Workshop Overview
Discover the Outer Banks: A Photographer's Paradise
Stretching over 100 miles along North Carolina’s coastline, the Outer Banks is a captivating blend of history, natural beauty, and rich culture. These barrier islands have played a pivotal role in American history, from the first English settlement at Roanoke Island to their infamous reputation as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic," where countless shipwrecks dot the ocean floor. Today, the Outer Banks beckons travelers and photographers alike with its pristine beaches, charming lighthouses, and vibrant wildlife.
A land of contrasts, the Outer Banks features towering sand dunes at Jockey’s Ridge, the serene waters of Pamlico Sound, and the rugged Atlantic coastline. It’s home to unique wildlife like the wild Corolla horses, thought to be descendants of Spanish mustangs brought to the area centuries ago. Fun facts abound—did you know the Wright brothers made their first successful flight here in Kitty Hawk, making the Outer Banks the birthplace of modern aviation?
For photographers, the Outer Banks offers an unparalleled canvas of colors and textures. From the fiery sunsets over sound-side waters to the soft pastel hues of sunrise along the ocean’s edge, every moment is a chance to create stunning imagery. The iconic lighthouses, quaint piers, and unspoiled landscapes provide endless opportunities to hone your craft while immersing yourself in the timeless beauty of this coastal treasure.
We will be staying at a nice coastal hotel nearby to many of our locations for sunrise and sunset. Prepare for early mornings as we will be making the best of our beautiful morning light.
